Chapter 7
After straightening her clothes and putting her toy away, Mimi helped Chaz to his feet and handed him his crutches. He found his balance then headed to the back door. She held the door open then followed him into the house. He went to the living room and lay down on the couch while she settled in the recliner next to it. He turned on the History Channel and was asleep by the time Kelly came through the back door ten minutes later. She was talking on her cell phone and did not look happy.
Once she hung up, she checked on Chaz before looking at Mimi. “Can I talk to you?”
Mimi nodded and followed her to the back door. Kelly took the chair Chaz had been in only moments earlier and waited until Mimi sat in the chair she had occupied earlier.
“What’s up?” Mimi asked when it appeared that Kelly was fighting to keep her emotions in check.
“That was my mother’s neighbor. My mom fell this morning and is in the hospital. I have to go to her. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, but I can’t leave Chaz alone. The insurance company won’t pay for a full-time nurse, and I don’t know what to do. I was wondering if you…”
“Whatever you need,” Mimi said before she could think about her response.
“I need someone to move in and take care of him. He can’t drive for at least another couple of weeks. He has a doctor’s appointment Monday afternoon, and if things go as expected, he’ll start rehab later in the week. He needs someone patient as he’s been getting moody lately, as well as keeping him fed.”
“Not a problem. I can bring my computer over, and as long as I can hook into the Internet, I should be able to work here as easily as I do at home,” Mimi said, wondering how Chaz would handle her moving in and taking care of him.
Kelly smiled with relief. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don’t know who else I would have called. His parents aren’t in the best of health themselves, and his friends all have jobs, families, and busy lives. We have Wi-Fi in the house, so using your computer won’t be a problem.”
Mimi wondered what that said about her life. She had no pets, no family in the area, and worked at home. She was involved with several charities and women’s groups, but those only met once or twice a month. She really had no close friends other than a few of the other submissives at the club.
“The challenge will be to keep him mentally stimulated,” Kelly continued. “He’s getting bored, which makes him grumpy and a pain in the ass.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” Mimi said with an understanding smile. “If you can write down appointments, pill schedules, food allergies, and such, I shouldn’t have any problems playing nanny while you’re gone.”
Kelly nodded just as Chaz called out from the living room,
